Author, reviewer, translator

My pen name is Arturo Serrano, and my pronoun is he. My legal name is just a bit longer, but you needn’t worry about it.

I think too much about science fiction. I’ve written some, reviewed some more, and dream to create still more. You can see the details for each of my obsessions at the top menu of this website. At the moment I’m finishing an undergraduate degree in Creative Writing.

In 2022, I was longlisted for the Hugo Award for Best Fan Writer. In 2023, I was nominated to the Hugo Award for Best Fanzine, along with the rest of the editorial team at Nerds of a Feather. In that same year, we won the Ignyte Award in the Critics category.

I’m a Neutral Good autistic bisexual depressed left-handed atheist vegetarian pacifistic childfree photophobic supertaster Hispanic teetotaler, blissfully married to a Jewish disabled environmentalist firewalker transmasc marathoner philosopher poet.

My political positions can be summarized like this: whichever your identity, it shouldn’t suck to be you. I hope for the abolition of national borders, the abolition of armies, the abolition of the death penalty and a total ban on gun possession. I want all monarchies to be overthrown.

I support the universal adoption of the metric system. I have cut all diplomatic relations with the Oxford comma. I agree that Pluto is not a planet, and never should have been.

I believe Tuvix was murdered. I believe Han shot last and Deckard is human.

I play D&D, Pathfinder and Star Trek Adventures. My stance on edition wars is that the best version of D&D is still 3.5, and the best version of 3.5 is Pathfinder.

I’m obsessed with Star Trek, Doctor Who, Sailor Moon and Miraculous Ladybug.

I’m trying to learn several languages. Emphasis on trying.

I live in Bogotá, Colombia.

I like both cats and dogs. I prefer tea to coffee. I like to look at clouds.
